Who We Are
Myself and my husband (Tommy) were both brought up on farms in rural Aberdeenshire. I always had border collies and often a stray would appear and soon became part of the family. Tommy got his first black labrador at a year old his name was Rover. They were best friends throughout his childhood.
Once married we had been in our new home only 5 days when Tommy brought home a labrador crossed collie named Sam. A few years later we told our two daughters we were going to see a man about a dog which was Tommy’s reply whenever the asked where we were going, only this time we really were going to see a man about a dog and thats when Max came home. After that everything revolved around Max, the girls often said I loved him more than them, but it wasn’t more than… just the same..
Soon after getting Max we moved to a small croft in the countryside. Now Rachael (our oldest daughter) says now we can have 20 dogs! I thought no way. In 2008 we decided it was time to get our first black labrador, Molly and a couple years later another one as one wasnt enough! When we got home we noticed a wee scar on her nose, so named her Skarra.
Around a year later Tommy and I went to a local dog show and entered Skarra. She won a second in gun dogs and soon we were hooked on showing. We started travelling to open shows further afield eventually becoming very brave and deciding to show up at championship shows regularly.
We are now regular attenders of multiple shows including;
Labrador club of Scotland (of which we are also committee members)
Tayvalley gundogs open show
